Consulting - Retreats and Strategic Planning
"We're not sure that our governance and buy-in plan works anymore."
"The partners just don't see eye to eye about the what the practice should focus on."
"Dr. Senior is about to retire and transitioning leadership is a concern."
Mention the word “retreat” to an action-oriented group of physicians, and there is likely to be a range of responses from enthusiastic “We’ve needed to do this for a long time!” to eye rolling among the skeptics and objections from those who argue, “Why give up free time? Everything is just fine.”
These attitudes demonstrate why strategic business sessions are as important to physicians as they are to business people. The Chinese have a saying, “If you don’t know where you are going, then any road will take you there.” Physician groups, periodically, if not annually, need to revisit their assumptions about budgets; personnel issues, both professional and administrative; recruiting options; relationships with hospitals served; competition in the market and perhaps most importantly--attend to the governance of the group itself.
Whether you are considering adding a new partner or looking for ways to grow the practice, our consultants help you evaluate strategic decisions and market factors to point you toward sound decision-making processes.
Overall Description
KZA's "action-agenda" service is different for every practice. In general, it is at least a day-long session that deals with non-operational concerns and focuses on concepts, direction, vision, and governance. But each retreat is tailor-made because each practice presents with a unique set of needs. For some practices this means the retreat is a session that addresses leadership and decision making, for others the retreat focuses on planning the current leader's exit strategy and how the practice will grow to the next level.
