Course Overview

The Internet has ushered in a new challenge for physicians. Many physicians have found themselves eager to embrace e-commerce, but challenged about how to effectively and profitably use this new technology in their practices.

This workshop briefly covers the basics, but mainly focuses on using the Web to extend your practice onto the Web. Web service strategies, improving practice efficiencies, and communicating with patients online are just a few of the topics covered.

Learning Objectives

As a result of attending this course, participants will understand how to:

  • Build a cost-effective Web site that improves registration, decreases phone calls, and improves patient satisfaction

  • Communicate with and educate patients and referring physicians online

  • Use e-commerce to decrease accounts receivable and speed up eligibility and referral authorizations

  • Recognize the practice management and operational efficiencies brought on by the Internet

  • Deal with security and privacy issues on the Net
