A Letter from Brad Henley, MD

Chair, AAOS Coding Committee

Dear Colleague:

The Academy is pleased to again jointly sponsor “Tactical Reimbursement Strategies and Mastering Orthopaedic Coding” with KarenZupko & Associates. Attending these workshops and applying the concepts learned will positively impact your bottomline.

I’d like to outline why we participate in this program. While coding courses are available everywhere at widely varying tuition, I want to assure you that the Academy courses are your best investment. Members of the AAOS’ Coding, Coverage and Reimbursement Committee audit other programs and we are confident that the AAOS/KarenZupko & Associates’ workshops provide our members with timely, accurate and actionable practice management information, targeted specifically for orthopaedic practices. These courses are the very best value when compared to other offerings.

Let me outline why.

  1. Coding Committee members monitor most programs. We ensure that faculty teaching is aligned with Academy coding and practice management policies.

  2. KZA speakers combine coding expertise—not just knowledge—with real world experience in auditing charts. They have clinical and business backgrounds.

  3. Each attendee receives a comprehensive “workbook” containing the course content and informational references. There is a difference between a “handout” and a “workbook” that can actually serve as a future reference. The large amount of information in the 125 page plus workbook is more valuable than reproductions of poor Power Point slides.

  4. The course content is updated frequently with cases and coding scenarios encountered by practicing orthopaedic surgeons.

As the chair of the AAOS Coding Committee, the changes in course content each year are significant. You need to stay up to date. For the best value, attend with your staff. Not sure it’s worth your time? Read the reviews posted at the KZA website, from orthopaedic surgeons, who, like yourself, gave up a Saturday and are happy they did.

Sincerely,

M. Bradford Henley, MD, MBA
Chair
