Saturday: Mastering ENT Coding

Thinking why you should attend the Saturday workshop in 2012? We can give you nine great reasons:

1. Do you have an audiologist?   Make sure you are billing according to the CMS guidelines
and know what other payers expect. We’ll show you how.

2. Office services can represent almost 75% of most ENT’s income. Bill correctly
and confidently using our case studies!

3. Fasten your seatbelts and get ready for ICD-10 now.  We have a practical approach
to the subject you will find uniquely appealing.  Avoid the dangers in “crosswalks!”

4. Employ accurate coding for endoscopic sinus surgery and balloon dilation procedures.

5. Controversies in thyroidectomy and neck dissections are resolved.

6. Billing an office visit the same day with a procedure: when to do it and guidelines to follow.

7. Post-tonsillectomy bleeds: when can you bill for treating these?  You’ll find out!

8. Coding and billing for unattended sleep studies. Don’t snooze through this one.

9. New otoacoustic emission CPT codes.

And, if this isn’t enough, there is a thorough discussion of modifiers, allergy services, and other surgical case coding.

SPECIAL:  EHR Templates:  Dangerous or Bonus?  We’ll review actual notes that illustrate why auto population may be hazardous.   A careful look at the OIG’s emphasis on E & M coding and EMRs is scheduled!

Who should attend?

Surgeons in Private Practice, Employed by a Health System or in Academics: Delegating risk management is dangerous. Given the increase in audits and the challenging economy it is worth your time to attend both the Friday and Saturday workshops.

Administrators, Managers and Supervisors: If your goal is to run a leading edge practice attend the Friday and Saturday workshops and see how.

Certified Coders and Business Office Staff: Sharpen your skills and expand your scope of knowledge.

TEAM ATTENDANCE provides the most value because everyone on the team hears and sees what needs to change in the office process, in the coding assumptions, and their role in making it happen.

What's covered

2012's Saturday workshop will answer many of your coding questions and help you master how to use them. We'll be covering;

  • How do we code for the Epley maneuver? Can we get paid?

  • What is the correct coding for the balloon sinuplasty procedure?

  • Can I also bill for turbinate procedures when I also do endoscopic sinus surgery? And, can I also bill for stereotactic navigation?

  • Can I bill for tympanostomy tube removal done in the office?

  • What do I need to document to bill a level 4 E&M code?

  • I heard the consultation codes went away – true?

  • Can we bill for allergy vial prep when I’m in surgery or do I need to be in the office? What about allergy shots – do I have to be there?

  • How do I code a selective neck dissection? I don’t see that listed in the CPT book.

  • What should I code when I do the approach for pituitary tumor removal with the neurosurgeon?

  • Am I allowed to bill an E&M code and a procedure (like a flexible fiberoptic laryngoscopy) on the same day?

  • What is the code for a trach tube change?

  • I’m starting to do transtympanic injections and I heard there were code changes – please help!

  • How do I code for a closed reduction of a nasal fracture with a septal fracture repair?

  • Is there a code for this new procedure my doctor is doing called “percutaneous laryngoplasty?”

  • Can I use the Zenker’s diverticulum repair code when I do the procedure transorally?

Learning Objectives

As a result of this course, participants will:

  • Refine their ability to use modifiers correctly on office and surgical cases.

  • Take positive steps to reduce the risk of audits and take backs.

  • Prepare  for ICD-10 implementation.
