Bundling Hits Vascular Coding Again!

Question:

I’ve heard more vascular codes will be bundled in 2014. Is this true and which codes!

Answer:

Unfortunately, the trend of bundling endovascular codes has continued for 2014. Transcatheter stent placement (except coronary, cervical carotid, lower extremity, intracranial and extracranial vertebral or carotid) will be bundled beginning January 1, 2014. This category of stent codes now includes all radiological supervision and interpretation as well as any angioplasty in the same vessel. The codes separate venous from arterial stenting but include open and percutaneous approaches.

Non-CNS embolization coding (previously 37204) has also been completely revised and bundled. KZA will present a webinar of all these revised codes in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
