Betsy is the co-founder of Codapedia.com, a community web site devoted to physician reimbursement. She is also the author of The Field Guide to Physician Coding 3rd Edition and Auditing Physician Services 2nd Edition. She developed The Accurate Coding System™ to help doctors get paid for the work they do. As a certified professional coder, Betsy simplifies complex coding rules for practitioners and engages physicians and coders. She audits records for compliance and to identify lost revenue due to coding.
In addition to writing on her own blog, she is a frequent contributor to Physicians Practice, the Family Practice Management, and the Journal of Medical Practice Management. She speaks frequently at conferences and does webinars. Before starting as a consultant in 1998, Betsy was the Chief Operating Officer for a hospital-owned multi-specialty group.
Betsy received her M.S. in Organization and Management from Antioch, New England. She holds both a B.S.W. and M.S.W. in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh.
Betsy is an avid reader of science fiction stories and is a member of a sci-fi book group. She has attended Star Trek conventions and the World Science Fiction Convention (WorldCon). She hopes to attend ComicCon one of these years.
